A Voice for Shelter Pets!

Visitors to my Facebook page will sometimes see a "share" from the comic strip, Mutts. With the premise of a couple of rescued pets, the comic strip is delivered to my inbox every morning c/o King Feature Syndicate and ArcaMax.

Mutts is written by one of my favorite people/authors, Patrick McDonnell. Not only did Mr. McDonnell create the adorable "Earl" and "Mooch," but he is also the author of several endearing, and much loved, children's books.

A voice for pets in need of homes, Mr. McDonnell's visit to Animal Care Centers of New York (ACC) will be featured on the May episode of Shelter Me, the PBS series highlighting inspiring stories of shelter pets. Check your local listings for dates Shelter Me will be aired in your area.

With Mr. McDonnell's help, Mooch and Earl are championing a nationwide Mutts adoption event, May 7th through May 14th, sponsored by Petco Foundation. Local shelters and rescue organizations will bring animals in need of forever homes to Petco stores. These cuddly cuties will be available for adoption.

Thank you, Patrick McDonnell, for creating Mutts, entertaining children with your wonderful books, and for being a voice/advocate for pets in need of a home.

  3. Excellent as always. Very good blog. I'd say Patrick McDonnell would make a really nice romantic hero in one of our books.
