Great Children's Reads

One of my favorite places in world is our local library. I still remember when I was six-years-old, the summer after first grade, my mom and I walking to the library for my first library card.

Ironically, now when I'm at the library, it's not for a book. I borrow their DVDs and use their copier and printer. I usually venture over early on a Saturday morning and run into Children's Storytime. Although I don't write for children, I've always been interested in Children's Literature and it's capacity to intrigue, motivate, and teach. I'm thrilled by how enthused, excited, and engaged the little ones are with something as simple as a book.

For writers, parents, grandparents, teachers who are interested in Children's Literature, here are several releases you -- and your little ones -- may enjoy.

Of course, with March 2nd being Dr. Seuss's birthday, I couldn't talk about a Children's book without mentioning an "oldie but goodie," my favorite Dr. Seuss book...

Horton Hears A Who!

Horton the Elephant represents kindness and goodness and from this story comes one of Dr. Seuss's most inspirational quotes, "A person's a person, no matter how small."

A True Hero!

Officer Aguayo stopped to check on the sloth, which was struggling to cross the road. (Ecuador Transit Commission)

I've been sharing this story all over...This officer symbolizes kindness, compassion, and what being "human" is all about. A true hero!

Have a good week, Everyone!
