Whichever holiday is on your calendar, my best wishes for a safe, peaceful and happy season.

Holiday Novellas and Give-away!

I’m enjoying the Holiday Season and all the great reads out there! This week we’re featuring “Season of Love,” a novella collection by Crimson Romance author, Dana Volney.  Available on Kindle and Nook.

Season of Love

Sexy fun under the mistletoe awaits in this collection of three seasonal novellas by Dana Volney. Let the men of Casper, Wyoming, put you in the holiday mood!

  • Holiday Hoopla: Halle Adams's gift shop needs a serious cash infusion to survive, and banker Blake Ellison needs a no-strings date for his family's holiday functions. It's a perfect solution - he'll approve her loan if she'll be his escort - until feelings of jealousy surface. Romance wasn't on their holiday wish list. Will a business deal between strangers get hoodwinked by holiday hoopla?
  • Christmas Clash: Candace Ellison is determined to stop the city council's new convention center project from demolishing her new flower shop. Unfortunately, that means she'll have to cooperate with annoying Luke Carrigan, whose family pub is also on the chopping block. Will this Christmas bring miracles or the destruction of everything these old rivals love?
  • Candlelight Conspiracy: When Sophie Graystone's apartment building loses power during the holidays, the aloof restaurant owner next door surprisingly invites her for a late-night menu tasting. Marc Sizzo's too busy concentrating on success to fall in love. But sharing confidences in the intimate candlelight just might be the spark for a real relationship . . . unless an old flame reclaims his heart. Will Sophie find herself alone on New Year's Eve after all?

Crimson Romance:

As a special treat, Dana is offering a chance to win an ecopy of her recent Crimson release, The December Deal.

After her dad is diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, Lilia Carrigan returns home to Wyoming. The insurance company won’t cover the costs for an experimental trial that offers his best chance at surviving, and she needs a way to raise funds fast.Vincent Morgenstern has had a year to fulfill the clause in his dad’s will that says if he doesn’t marry, he’ll lose out on inheriting the family business he loves so much. The deadline is New Year’s Eve, and he’s determined to get down the aisle, even if he has to pay the bride to be on his arm.

When Lilia overhears his predicament at a coffee shop, the crazy solution to both their problems seems obvious. What’s one year of faking it?But as the holiday season works its magic, their platonic partnership threatens to get very personal.

Will Lilia and Vincent’s December deal stay professional, or will real feelings ruin everything?

To be eligible, leave your email address with a comment telling us of your favorite Holiday tradition. Mine is walking through the South Philly streets and admiring the decorated homes. Drawing for The December Deal will be held on Saturday, December 19th.

Happy-being Thankful-giving!

Since this week starts the "big" holiday season -- Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa -- and I promised my family I'd get the baking started, I had originally planned a short post today wishing everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving."

Then, during the week I met with my book club, and our coffee-conversation turned to my novel, Magic Moment. I have a tendency to feel uncomfortable with public, face-to-face praise. After a heartfelt "thank you" to my friends, I turned the discussion back to pumpkin pie recipes.

During my short walk home, I realized one of the things I'm thankful for this year is Magic Moment's extensive and assorted publication journey. After initially being published by Crimson Romance in 2012, the novel was released in a bundle, Running to Love, with nine other awesome Crimson authors. Not long after the time span on the bundle expired, Crimson notified me that Magic Moment's digital version had been chosen as part of the Amazon Encore program. It was a thrill to see that first post on Amazon's website back in August.

And, although public praise makes me queasy while sitting around a coffee shop table with friends, I'm thankful not only for the kind words of those friends, but for all the generous reviews I've received for Magic Moment. I remembered when Mariann at Belle's Book Bag posted the very first, ever review of my novel. I nearly fainted.

When I got home from the coffee shop after that evening's book club meeting, I clicked on the computer and took a walk down memory lane with Magic Moment's reviews.

Space (and consideration for my blog readers' time) prevents me from quoting all the reviews, but here are a few.

From Mariann for Belle's Book Bag (thank you, Mariann, for getting the review ball rolling)

“Stories with misunderstandings that separate the hero and heroine or how the hero and heroine let outside influences damage their growing relationship and trust in one another always interest me. It's the whole boy meets girl~they fall in love~breakup~get back together with a fair amount of groveling~then get their HEA. Love these types of stories.”

From Tiffy for The Romance Reviews

"Traveling with Chase and Laura from Philly to Magic Lake Island to Sea Tower, MD really ramps up the intrigue. Throw in the FBI and some thugs and you're hooked! The ending comes with a twist that I didn't see coming. All in all, it's a fun read!"

From Kimba for Caffeinated Book Reviewer

“The tale that unfolds was captivating. Adams used a few of my favorite tropes including the marriage arrangement, but she added her own unique twists.

From TRS for ARe Cafe

“I especially liked the way the author handled misunderstandings and places where others tried to come between them.”

That's merely a sampling, but I'm truly thankful and grateful to all who posted a review, who read the book, those who added Magic Moment to their Goodreads' list, or simply took the time to skim the blurb while web-browsing.

For more information on Magic Moment, just click the book cover on this page. And, feel free to check out these websites for some great romance reviews!

Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

I receive lots of daily book review emails. While time prevents me from reading them all, I usually skim each one and if something catches my eye, I'll stop and read the entire post. A few weeks ago, I got a Washington Post email with a review by Greg Schneider of Fortunate Son: My Life and Music by John  Fogerty with Jimmy McDonough
( ).

For those of you too young to remember, Fogerty was the founder of the 1960s band, Creedence Clearwater Revival. One of the most successful band of its time, and also one of my favorites.

While reading Schneider’s post, I hadn’t realized (or maybe was just too young) to recognize the turmoil among the band members. The review intrigued me, and I picked up the book (which is saying something about the strength of the Schneider’s account because I don’t often read biographies).

Fortunate Son… reminded me not only what a great group of musicians Fogerty, his brother, Tom, and Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford were, but of the awesome, prolific  poet and storyteller the band had in John who served as chief songwriter. This being 2015, I clicked on Google and found oodles of CCR hits on YouTube. As I listened to the words of the songs, and since he’s put his memoirs in print, I have one question for  Mr. Fogerty, “Have you ever considered writing a novel?”

Listed below are my favorite Creedence Clearwater Revival songs. I’ve provided YouTube links for your listening pleasure.  I enjoyed hearing these songs with a more mature prospective, and absorbing the stories they told, from the political to the whimsical.

"Thank You, Veterans!"

There are few greater sacrifices one could make than to leave his/her family, go off to a strange country, and make it their mission to keep those of us who live at home safe.

Two simple words mean a lot to folks who deserve to hear them. So, not only on November 11th, but any day you happen to pass one of our military members, please don’t forget to say those two words. The words, “thank you.”

If you would like information on organizations that help our military service personnel, I've noted a few websites.

Disabled American Veterans

Paralyzed Veterans of America

Wounded Warrior Project

The Veterans Site

USO (United Service Organization)

If you have a Veterans' organization that you'd like to add to this list, please feel free to note in the comment section. If you have a story to tell about your special Veteran, please share. We'd love to hear it.

Have a great week, Everyone!

A Phillies' Fan Walk Down Baseball Memory Lane...

For Philadelphia Phillies' fans, October 31st isn't simply a day to recognize Halloween. Back in 2008, the Phillies were World Series' Champions and October 31st was the day Philadelphia held a parade down Broad Street to honor our team.

Given the Phillies' dismal 2015 season, and that only two of the players, Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz, remain on our team from that 2008 season, I decided to take a stroll down "Memory Lane."

The Phillie Phanatic, baseball's ultimate mascot

"We Won!"

Jimmy Rollins, Phillies' Shortstop, and the 2008 World Series trophy

Cole Hamels, Series MVP

An estimated two million Phillies' fans lined Broad Street on October 31st to honor our team

Festivities culminated with a ceremony at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies

Despite the many ups and downs, through the good times and bad, I'll always love my team!

Have a great week, Everyone!
